We use real code because it's one of the most effective ways to build computational thinking: breaking problems into steps, spotting patterns, and reasoning through ambiguity. Those skills transfer to any field your child ends up in.
No. Explorer uses visual blocks to build foundational logic, but the platform is designed to grow with your child into real programming languages: Lua in Creator and Python in Builder.
CodeLarn is designed for learners ages 6 to 16 across three experience-based stages. Explorer uses visual blocks to build logical thinking, Creator introduces Lua and real code, and Builder uses Python for independent, real-world problem-solving.
Not at all. Explorer starts from the very beginning. If your child has coded before — on Scratch, in school, or elsewhere — we’ll ask a few quick questions during signup to suggest the best starting stage.
That's fine — placement is based on a student's current confidence and experience, not a strict age rule. We recommend starting with a placement chat or trial lesson so we can suggest the right stage.
Any laptop, desktop, or Chromebook with a modern browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari). Tablets work for Explorer’s visual blocks, but typing real Lua or Python in Creator and Builder is easier with a physical keyboard.
Trial & billing
You get full access to every learning stage and feature for 14 days, starting the moment you create an account. No credit card is required to start, and nothing is charged automatically when the trial ends — you choose a plan when you’re ready.
Yes. Both monthly and annual plans can be cancelled from the parent dashboard at any time, with no phone call or support ticket required. Annual plans are refunded on a pro-rated basis for unused full months.
Yes. The Family plan covers up to 3 children for ₦15,000/month and Family Plus covers up to 5 for ₦20,000/month — a single subscription, with a separate account, progress track and certificates for each child. Paying annually takes a further 20% off. Schools and after-school programs enrolling larger groups should use the Schools & Teachers plan instead.
Safety & support
No. CodeLarn is funded entirely by subscriptions. We don’t sell student data, and the learning environment doesn’t run third-party ad trackers.
Each exercise includes contextual hints that unlock progressively if a child is stuck, plus a worked-example option as a last resort. Sessions never lock a child out — they can revisit any past lesson at any time.
Yes. The parent dashboard shows completed sessions, time spent, specific skills mastered, and projects built — all in plain language, no tech background required — plus a short weekly summary email.
Yes. The CodeLarn community is built specifically for young learners, with moderation in place to keep it a safe, encouraging space for sharing projects and getting feedback.
